Habitat loss is the destruction of natural habitats that are needed for wildlife. One common type of habitat loss is deforestation (destruction of forests).
Main causes
- Habitats are destroyed mostly to make room for farm land (especially pasture). Agriculture uses more land than all other land usage combined.
What should be done
- Reduce the amount of land required to feed the world
- Stop old-growth logging
- Better-enforced policies & laws, in various regions of the world - discussion needed
