Feminism is good. You know who ruins it? People who can't take constructive criticism.

There's some women who can't take criticism, who hide behind feminism. Whenever you try to give helpful feedback they say "stop mansplaining" etc. Which is a shame because mansplaining is a real thing of course, but that ain't it.

Men who can't take criticism, are the ones who mansplain. The red pill "community" is full of these dudes, and they strawman feminists as being the women I described above.

Owning up to mistakes is a skill they don't teach properly in school. Kids are pressured to hide their mistakes instead of having an honest conversation on how to do better (and how to face the tradeoffs of making a different choice).

Speaking of which, people need to understand the difference between EXPLAINING a behavior and JUSTIFYING a behavior. If I did something wrong, I obviously shouldn't justify it, but I still need to figure out why I did it, so I can see where my mistake was, and see what I should've done differently. It doesn't help to cut off that conversation with "stop making excuses!" and "just admit you're wrong!"

Another thing:

Kids who grew up with unfair criticism are going to have a hard time taking constructive criticism.

If you're constantly berated for some good unique traits you have, then later on, after you learn to accept yourself, you're going to have a hard time listening if someone calls you out if any of your traits become toxic.

I think this even happens on a global scale. For example:
* A lot of Jews experienced anti-semitism and now have a hard time understanding that anti-Zionism isn't the same thing.
* A lot of Muslims experienced Israel's horrible war crimes, and now have a hard time accepting good leftist cricitism of Hamas.

No matter the case, getting out of it requires the same sort of hard discussions:
* We need to explain motives, without getting interrupted with "stop trying to justify!"
* We need to call out wrongdoing on both sides, without getting interrupted with "stop equivocating, you filthy centrist!"
* And we need to be able to discuss alternatives, without getting interrupted with "stop forcing your ideas!".
