== unplaced upstream == Put this somewhere on a separate page: One reason for shortening the work week: If people were less overworked (and less worried about making ends meet), more people would be open to thinking about global issues like [[climate change]] and what they can do. People might also get along with others better, having more time to be self-aware and reflect on other people's experiences. Violent crime rates might even go down{{x|for the reason mentioned, and also because fewer people would turn to crime to make a living}}. Having to worry about basic needs, puts people in survival mode, and makes it harder to think logically and abstractly about higher issues. Relevant study maybe: Judges are far more likely to grant parole after having breakfast and after having a lunch break, compared to before. Illustrates that worrying about basic needs makes a person less open-minded, less nice, and less patient for working through logical processes. (Now idk if it's a convincing example for everyone - parole policy is a whole other discussion to be had. But the point still stands that even judges get heavily biased by whether they had a meal.)
