Status quo

Almost all of Quebec's electricity comes from hydropower. But other energy usage is still based in fossil fuels:

  • Most homes are heated with natural gas.
  • Most vehicles run on gasoline or diesel.
  • Some industries (such as metals processing) still use coal power.

Does Quebec have enough hydropower capacity to make everything electric?
