About 829 million people (1 in 10 people globally) are undernourished (lacking protein and/or calories).
Causes

* Numbers & methodology of the above image
* Food production-consumption geography
Inefficiencies
Even though farms produce more than enough food crops to feed the world, too many of these crops are used inefficiently...
- as animal feed (farm animals eat more food than they produce)
- as biofuel (burned for energy - this is not a scalable alternative to fossil fuels)
- and in food that goes to waste (or spoils due to improper storage)
As a result, there isn't enough to go around (globally).
This affects food prices, such that the poorest people go hungry. discussion TODO: also talk about the lack of social safety net in some places
Wars & conflicts

Solutions / Actions to take
- Make the food supply more plant-based - See why
- Stop food waste - richer countries need the most change
- Stop biofuels
- Improve crop yields - poorer countries need the most change
