Habitat loss is the destruction of natural habitats that are needed for wildlife. One common type of habitat loss is deforestation (destruction of forests).

Main causes

Habitats are destroyed mostly to make room for farm land (especially pasture). Agriculture uses more land than all other land usage combined.

What should be done

Reduce the amount of land required to feed the world
Stop old-growth logging
Better-enforced policies & laws, in various regions of the world - discussion needed
