Some basic goals/requirements

  • The algorithm should promote good content, but not make you addicted, anxious or depressed (...)( note: Obviously we can't expect it to be perfect. But it should at least be less addictive and less harmful to mental health, compared to the status quo )
    • Perhaps fun videos should be on a separate feed from serious political topics and tragic news stories
    • Avoid promoting misinformation, ragebait, and low-priority controversies
    • Avoid overwhelming the user with too many things that feel like "i gotta see this now or else i might not ever see it again"

  • For this page, designs don't have to be profitable(...)( but they do have to be technically viable, and not use more electricity than the status quo ). Feel free to envision what could exist if we weren't bound by capitalism!
