Map of energy consumption per capita

It's misleading for 2 reasons:

1. Industrial sector: does not necessarily reflect the lifestyles of the citizens. For example the vast majority of Chinese factories serve the consumption-habits of people in other countries.
2. Heating: Even if the global south was as developed as the USA or Europe, they still wouldn't use quite as much energy because they don't need heating.

A more honest consumption metric would be: residential + commercial + passengerTransport + {goods consumption} / {global goods consumption} * ({global industrial energy use} + {global transport of goods, energy use}) And then from there, a second metric: subtract residential & commercial heating. RGB suggestion: population = blue; nonheating energy per capita = green; heating energy per capita = red; background = black.
