What about food crops used for non-food use?[edit source]
For example, when edible oils are used to make soap... Would that be lumped together with one of the branches here, or is it missing? And how significant is it, quantitatively?

This diagram doesn't currently include fish.[edit source]
Here's one way that fish could maybe be included in future versions of this diagram:
- The top part would be renamed from 'crops harvested' to 'production primary', and would include wild-caught fish.
- The 'animal feed' would include any human-edible calories fed to farmed fish.
- The 'animal products' produced would include the farmed fish.
To put things in perspective, seafood contributes about 12g protein/day/capita to the global food supply. [1]

Distinguishing farmed vs hunted meat[edit source]
The diagram currently does not. If it did,
- people could see that hunted animals are a small portion of meat, and
- people would see a slightly more accurate feed-conversion-ratio for farmed animals
(...)( although if we really wanted to show that accurately, we could separate each farmed animal species and maybe even show an auxillary 'non-human-edible feed' bar for ruminants )
Would such a change be worthwhile?
