Lentils vs second-hand soy
If people switched from...
- a typical western diet where much of the protein comes from animals fed soy
...to...
- similar diet but the animal proteins are replaced with lentils (same total amount of protein)
...would it use less crop land?
Because on one hand, farm animals are inefficient protein converters. But on the other hand, lentils are lower-yielding than soybeans (both in terms of protein and calories). So what would the estimated overall effect be?
