Coal pollution mitigation

Coal pollution mitigation, often marketed as "clean coal", is a set of processes to reduce some of the pollution of coal power.

This does not reduce CO₂ emissions. (...)( For that, it would need carbon capture, which is not economically viable. )

It reduces other pollutants:

• Gases that cause acid rain
  • Sulfur dioxide (SO₂)
  • Nitrogen oxides (NOx)
• Toxic metals
  • Mercury (...)( "up to" 95% reduction, according to some sources. This page needs more research to estimate how much of a problem the other 5%(...)( or more than 5%, if it turns out that the previously stated "95% reduction" is just an uncommon best-case scenario ) would be. )
