Just a general principle to help keep the costs of housing low.

Renovations to avoid

  • Ripping out countertops, floors, ceilings etc., just because they're "old" or look "ugly" or have stains
  • Getting rid of old furniture that's still usable, just because of wanting something new

Renovations to NOT avoid

Any maintenance needed for basic functionality:

  • Fixing broken plumbing
  • Fixing major electrical problems
  • Fixing damaged doors & windows
  • Removing things that are moldy beyond repair
